Short Story Sitting Motionless On His Rocking Chair

Sitting motionless on his rocking chair, Joshua reads the letter for the third time, craving to relieve the lost memories of his loving father. His father had been his inspiration throughout his lifetime, exposing him to the hidden secrets of the world that he so often took from granted. He glances over the handful of photos across his gallery room, reflecting upon the happiness dad shared with his closest friends: Alexander and Jonathan. The hardened frown finally cracks open into a smile, giving him renewed energy to brew his morning cup of coffee. The tranquil silence slowly dissipates in subservience to his children’s energetic voices. As usual, they were catching up with the latest adventures on the Discovery Channel. Puzzled, he glances at both objects momentarily, before fixing his gaze back towards me – a sign that my subtle love message had been skewered into his hearts.
